Modern web oset printing presses can produce up to 75,000 impressions per hour. Even roll changing is largely automated now and is performed "on the y". One job still has to be performed manually, however. Excess ink that is wiped o the printed pages collects in the blades of the individual inking units. These blades have to be cleaned at regular intervals. The plant engineers at the Kieler Zeitung Verlags- und Druckerei KG-GmbH & Co. have installed a Ruwac chip extractor to carry out this task. The publishing house, which employs around 400 people, produces the "Kieler Nachrichten" and also publishes a free newspaper, the "Kieler Express", along with a number of specialist magazines.
