James Clemens High School | Volkert Location: Madison, AL Client: Madison City Schools Faced with overcrowding that consigned high school freshmen to middle school facilities, the city of Madison, Alabama undertook construction of major new school facility and turned to Volkert to manage its construction. The new James Clemens High school is a 328,000 SF facility built on an 83-acre greenfield site in Madison, Alabama and is one of the premier high school facilities in the Southeast. The building’s design should ensure that it will remain up-to-date and capable of adapting to developing teaching styles and technology through the utilization of multi-use classrooms and laboratory space. Volkert served as Construction Manager-Agent on the project, managing seven individual prime contractors.
