In Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, 31% of COPD patients went over a year without reviews post-pandemic, raising risks of steroid dependence, hospitalizations, and poor outcomes. IQVIA partnered with the NHS to deliver a 7-week Respiratory Optimisation Programme. Using risk stratification, 8,692 high-risk patients were identified, 7,420 invited, and 2,867 virtual pharmacist-led reviews completed across 71 practices. Results included a 96% rise in COPD reviews, 171% increase in inhaler technique checks, 212% more COPD Assessment Tests, reduced A\&E attendances, and a 40% backlog reduction. The program improved care quality, patient outcomes, and NHS efficiency.
