LSU wanted stronger cyber defense without overwhelming costs and sought a model that could also develop student talent and extend protection to smaller Louisiana colleges. TekStream partnered with Splunk and LSU to build a co-managed, student-run SOC powered by Splunk SIEM and SOAR on AWS. Students receive real-world training while TekStream’s MDR ensures 24/7 coverage, standardized playbooks and automated response. Within three months, LSU launched a scalable shared SOC serving up to 31 institutions, reducing risk, expanding workforce development and creating a sustainable statewide cyber program.
