In this case study, Eclipse, a food and beverage equipment provider, faced the threat of becoming a commodity supplier. To counter this, a technologist at Eclipse led the development of an Outcomes-as-a-Service (OaaS) model, transforming Eclipse from a traditional capex seller into a digital service provider. This shift aimed to optimize equipment use, reduce operational costs, and deepen customer relationships. However, it introduced industry frictions around customer ownership, system integrator roles, and protecting proprietary knowledge. To navigate these, Eclipse partnered with Konsert Strategy & IP to embed IP StratOps, securing their innovations and positioning for long-term value capture.
