Merck partnered with Workhuman to drive DE&I through their peer-to-peer recognition program, INSPIRE, which allows employees to recognize one another for living company values. INSPIRE achieved impressive adoption, with nearly 800,000 recognition moments and a 12-point increase in employee satisfaction. Merck embedded two micro-coaching tools, Inclusion Reflection and Inclusion Advisor, into the program to combat unconscious bias. Inclusion Advisor, in particular, flagged biased language in recognition messages, resulting in 74% of employees changing their wording. This initiative helps Merck create a more inclusive workplace and supports DE&I progress.
