I-12 Widening | Volkert Location: Baton Rouge, LA Client: Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD) As part of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s “Geaux Wider” program, Volkert worked as a design-build partner to accomplish the widening of Interstate 12 from O’Neal Lane to Pete’s Highway in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes. The project entailed widening I-12 from 2-lanes in each direction to 3-lanes in each direction (6 lanes total), reconstruction of the existing lanes and replacement of the existing dual bridges across the Amite River.
