The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is spearheading the development of fusion power to deliver clean, sustainable energy. Due to time constraints, traditional test-based design is insufficient, so UKAEA partnered with Intel and the University of Cambridge through the Cambridge Open Zettascale Lab. This collaboration focuses on co-developing technologies to power next-generation supercomputers. UKAEA leverages Intel® Data Center GPU Max Series, oneAPI, and Distributed Asynchronous Object Storage (DAOS) to drive advanced simulations critical to designing fusion energy systems, positioning the UK at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation.
