The Taif region is one of the key investment centres identified as part of the Kingdom’s National Development Plan. The study area had enjoyed a historic role as a domestic tourism destination and a summer seat of Government. This function has, however, been slowly reducing due to lack of investment in the area; a situation partly created by a restrictive covenant which has prohibited local development.
