Government of Norway Supports over Four Million Citizens with Easy and Secure Access to Services Provided by 1,000 Government Agencies
The case study explains how the Government of Norway uses ForgeRock Access Management, now part of Ping Identity, to power its eGovernment portal, enabling 4.5 million citizens and 500,000 businesses to access services from over 1,000 agencies securely. Through a centralized authentication system called ID-Porten, users benefit from single sign-on access to healthcare, taxation, education, and welfare services. Built on a hub-and-spoke model using SAML 2.0, the solution scales to handle over a million logins daily, saving an estimated $681 million over ten years. During the pandemic, it enabled rapid service deployment and improved efficiency, cutting processing times and operational costs nationwide.
