Elliott Way Boardwalk
Challenge Pedestrian safety on Elliott Way was a main concern for Village of Croton-on-Hudson officials, who were seeing a dangerous situation unfold between Sensaqua Park and the Croton Landing Waterfront Park. Walkers and bikers were sharing a stretch of narrow, single lane road with limited visibility that was sometimes also heavily used by passenger and commercial traffic. Pedestrian walkways were already in place to the north and south of this section of Elliott Way, so the Village wanted to create a safe multi-use link between the two parks. Elliott Way is bordered by the Hudson River and the New York MTA’s Metro North railway, making it impossible to expand or move the road.
