CASE STUDY Earthworks Slippage Monitoring CLIENT: NETWORK RAIL/COSTAIN THE CHALLENGE Costain approached Senceive to monitor a railway embankment using their FlatMesh high precision dual axis tilt sensors. The response and install required was immediate and the monitoring was long-term. A 40m section of embankment, prone to slippage was to have vegetation removed, re-graded, and kentledge-ballast sacks piled in front of structure-added at the base of the slope to 'restrain' the newly profiled embankment emergency repair works. Installation and monitoring was required from mid July 2014. OUR SOLUTION The robust and stable sensors were affixed to posts embedded in the re-graded embankment on a regularised grid.
