The train carries tourists through a scenic mountain area. Challenge Diesel odor and soot from the diesel locomotive was a nuisance to passengers on the train. DCL was approached for an emission control solution. Solution DCL custom designed an emission control catalyst for retro?t onto the locomotive. Test results for the diesel oxidation catalyst showed a reduction of hydrocarbons and odor causing compounds of 90% and a reduction of carbon monoxide by 99%. The customer reported a signi?cant improvement in the tour experience of passengers.
