Delivering Africa’s First Deepwater FLNG on a Fast-Track Schedule

This case study describes the Coral Sul FLNG project, a floating LNG unit installed 80 km offshore Mozambique with a production capacity of 3.4 MTPA and 25-year design life. The project required fast-track engineering across six global operating centers to meet a 60-month schedule, supported by shared 3D design tools and interface management systems. Topsides modules were fully integrated at Samsung Heavy Industries’ yard in Korea to reduce offshore installation complexity. Despite COVID-related disruptions during construction in Singapore and Korea, the project achieved Ready for Sail Away on schedule, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated EPC execution for large offshore LNG facilities.
