ConFest is a non-profit, volunteer run event that has been bringing a range of people and alternative cultures together for more than fifty years. The Down to Earth Co-Operative Society has been organising ConFest since 1979 and is an entirely volunteer and not for personal profit organisation. Down to Earth volunteers create the space and necessary amenities for ConFest to take place; then the event is entirely run by volunteers. Essentially, the space itself, is created by those attending the festival. Radio is the primary form of communications used throughout the festival by event management, volunteers, security, medical and emergency response team.
