Clearing the way for green energy
The case study describes how HIGHVOLT partnered with SoftwareOne to modernize its HiMON cable monitoring system using Microsoft Azure. Designed to monitor Germany’s underground power grid for renewable energy transmission, the system collects up to 100 TB of data monthly from 2,000 sensors to detect cable faults in real time. SoftwareOne built an Azure-based architecture using IoT Hub, Kubernetes, Blob Storage, and AI-ready analytics for predictive maintenance. The collaboration improved scalability, security, and automation while cutting costs. When completed, the system will help transmit 8 GW of green power, reducing downtime and boosting reliability for Germany’s renewable energy infrastructure.
