The challenge A few years ago, Children’s Eye Physicians (CEP)—a fast-growing specialty practice focused on the treatment of pediatric ocular disease—began noticing a drop in commercial insurance reimbursement and a spike in patient accounts receivable (AR). After digging deeper, the organization determined that its patients and/or its patients’ guardians were opting for higher deductible health plans and assuming greater financial responsibility for their care, and as a result, they often were not paying their balances off as easily.
