C A S E S T U D Y Chemical Burns A potentially very serious incident relating to chemicals occurred at a long-established manufacturing workshop. A worker suffered a chemical burn to his eye whilst filling a high voltage starter motor with electrolyte powder. Although he was wearing light eye protection, a small amount of the electrolyte powder reached the edge of his eye and caused a minor chemical burn. The burn was intensely painful and caused the injured person to be off work for four days. Fortunately it caused no lasting damage.
