dSPACE NEWS Astronomical Research in Chile Telescopes in the Atacama Desert in Chile are jointly maintained by the Astronomisches Institut at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany (AIRUB), and the University of Antofagasta. Research there mainly concentrates on the development of young stars and energy bursts in quasars. Soon there will be three more telescopes, including an innovative hexapod telescope, turning the complex into a sizable observatory.
