Case Study
A Communicating Control System
A Communicating Control System Opportunity: An aluminum manufacturer wanted to control the process temperature in three zones. They also wanted to perform this control via computer, using a Windows® based software. Problem: One panel, which utilizes one personal computer, must perform control of the three zones. Provisions must be provided to visually monitor the current draw of each heater. Over temperature protection is required. Solution: Watlow built a panel, which consisted of three SERIES 988A-10CA-ASRG temperature controllers, three DIN-A-MITE ® DC3C-3060-C000 (three phase, three leg) power controllers, three 95A3-1DK1-0000 high limits, and nine ammeters. Included were three fuses, disonnects, resets, thermocouples and pilot lights. The SERIES 988 controllers were configured for EI
