The Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing manufacturing around the world and driving smart manufacturing. It is revolutionizing the ways in which technology interacts with and becomes embedded within societies and even the human bodies. This is called Industrie 4.0 in Germany, Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing in North and South America and Made in China 2025. What they are called is not as important as how they are changing the face of manufacturing. Industry 4.0, as we will refer to it in the paper, is not a set initiatives or concepts. It is the new paradigm for smart manufacturing world-wide. Regardless of what it is called in any organization, Industry 4.0 requires MedTech companies to embark on a digital transformation journey.
