Private credit markets have experienced significant growth, driven by higher rates, seniority in capital structure, and strong historical performance. Post-2008 banking regulations and the Fed's restrictive monetary policy since 2021 have further fueled this expansion. From $250 billion in 2010, private credit AUM reached approximately $1.5 trillion in 2023 and is projected to nearly double to $3 trillion by 2028. A recent Collier Capital survey reveals that 44% of private market investors plan to increase their allocations to private credit, outpacing other sectors like infrastructure (27%).
