VAST Data’s Exascale NAS, introduced in a November 2023 white paper, reimagines HPC storage by making traditional NFS protocol feasible and scalable for massively parallel supercomputing. Built on its innovative Disaggregated Shared-Everything (DASE) architecture, VAST decouples compute and storage across a common NVMe-over-Fabrics data center-scale fabric, allowing independent scaling of capacity and performance. The system uses stateless Docker containers as compute elements managing all NVMe storage enclosures, with a global namespace for seamless access.
