The AMERIAL white paper explores the Industry 4.0 readiness of Philippine MSMEs. It finds that most MSMEs still operate using Industry 2.0 and 3.0 technologies, with only a few prepared for digital transformation. The DOST-MIRDC’s AMERIAL project assessed 262 MSMEs and provided tech upgrade proposals, yet adoption remains low due to financial, technical, and competency barriers. Key recommendations include targeted R&D support, better access to financing, and stronger MSME linkages with solution providers. A long-term, inclusive strategy is vital for boosting MSME productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
