Beyond EDR: Why EPM and Least Privilege are Critical to Endpoint Protection
Endpoint security is strengthened by combining Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM) with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR). EPM applies least‑privilege controls to reduce attack surfaces and block unauthorized actions, while EDR focuses on detecting and responding to threats already in progress. Together, they address ransomware, malware, and insider risks more effectively than either solution alone. EPM compensates for EDR’s limitations by preventing bypass attacks and enforcing granular application control, creating a multilayered defense aligned with frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK. This blended approach improves protection, containment, and resilience across all endpoints.
