In the examination room, physicians devoted half of their patient time facing the screen to do electronic tasks. The experience in the blood bank is similar. Virtually every step in the blood bank’s daily workflows is performed and recorded through a blood bank information system. Every activity from managing inventory and performing blood tests to issuing blood products is performed hand in hand with the computer system.
