The SHI ESSER datasheet explains the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund, created to help schools recover from the effects of COVID-19. Managed by the U.S. Department of Education, ESSER funds are distributed through state and local education agencies and can cover costs dating back to March 2020. ESSER I, II, and III must be obligated by 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively. Funds support pandemic response, learning loss mitigation, and technology initiatives such as cybersecurity, remote collaboration, and access to digital tools. SHI assists schools in identifying grants and using ESSER funding for technology modernization and educational resilience.
