The CyberArk 2024 Identity Security Threat Landscape EMEA Report highlights rising cyber debt driven by GenAI, machine identities, and third- and fourth-party risks. Nearly half of organizations expect a threefold increase in identities, with machine identities being the primary driver yet often under-secured. In the past year, 93% of organizations suffered multiple identity-related breaches, mainly from phishing, vishing, and ransomware, with 74% of ransomware victims paying without recovering data. Overconfidence in spotting deepfakes and weak vendor risk management exacerbate exposure. The report urges Zero Trust, ITDR adoption, and consolidation of identity tools to reduce risk and strengthen resilience.
