This survey by Dimensional Research reveals intercompany processes as highly complex and challenging, with 96% of stakeholders reporting difficulties and 99% observing increasing complexity. Key challenges include compliance across jurisdictions, disparate systems, and managing high volumes of transactions. These issues have significant impacts, causing business outcomes to suffer, increasing finance and accounting operations' strain, and negatively affecting team members' health and work-life balance. Despite adopting shared services or CoEs, companies face added challenges. Technology, particularly ERP systems, only partially addresses these issues, with stakeholders seeing potential benefits in automated analytics, end-to-end transparency, and centralized dispute management.
