A January 2022 survey of 1,000 IT leaders worldwide examined the impact of ransomware, remediation methods, and future strategies. Most organizations (76%) experienced cyberattacks in 2021, with only 69% data recovery success. Findings highlighted bad actors' effectiveness, successful remediation attributes, and areas for proactive/reactive improvement. Common ransomware entry points include user errors and compromised credentials. Attackers target mainstream systems (80%) with known vulnerabilities. Hybrid/distributed IT infrastructures face encryption challenges across datacenters, remote offices, and cloud-hosted instances (48-49%).
