Brand Protection Trend Report
ZeroFox’s Brand Protection Trend Report (July 2023) reveals a 164% rise in external cyber threats to brands, driven mainly by fraud, scams, piracy, and impersonations. Domain-based threats surged 20%, with manufacturing seeing the largest increase, while social unrest in Greece caused a 95% jump in spoofed domains. Gift card scams made up 80% of fraudulent activity, alongside fake job posts and money-flipping schemes. Social media impersonations also grew, especially within media and retail. The report urges organizations to register domains early, monitor for impersonations, remove fake accounts, and use threat intelligence to strengthen brand defense.
