Ransomware retained its grip, responsible for nearly a quarter of breaches, but business email compromise and pretexting grew even faster, reflecting attacker shifts. Vulnerability exploitation remained high, with many enterprises struggling to patch within critical timeframes, and 12% of KEV vulnerabilities still unremediated after a year. Human error and social engineering remained major drivers, featuring in two-thirds of cases. Supply chain exposure grew further, now linked to nearly one in five breaches. The report underscores layered defenses, faster remediation, and embedding security into partner ecosystems.
