2019 Cyberthreat Defense Report
In late 2018, over 1,200 IT professionals from 17 countries and 19 industries shared insights on cybersecurity challenges in a global survey. Key concerns included account takeovers, denial-of-service attacks, web app vulnerabilities, and insider threats. Major obstacles to defense were data overload, lack of skilled staff, and low employee security awareness. Organizations aimed to acquire tools like advanced security analytics, threat intelligence services, and insider threat detection. Web and database firewalls were among the most used defenses, with growing adoption of machine learning—94% already using it, and 81% seeing impact. DDoS protection also remained a top focus.
