The report highlights that IT, OT, and ICS systems in manufacturing are increasingly exposed to cyberattacks due to weak access security, with critical manufacturing being the most attacked industry in 2021. Over 50% of attacks on critical infrastructure start by exploiting user credentials. Around 85% of executives plan higher investments in threat prevention, 56% in detection, and 29% in response. Cyberattacks typically begin with credential compromise, followed by privilege escalation, malware delivery, and movement into OT networks. Multi-factor authentication and strong access controls are key to mitigating these risks.
