Specifically, using Fivetran’s Managed Data Lake Service can save between 77% and 95% on ingestion compute costs versus data warehouses. For example, ingestion costs in a data warehouse like Snowflake can reach $12,422.82 compared to only $926.37 when using a data lake on S3 with open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake. This cost efficiency is due to data lakes’ ability to handle diverse, large-scale data with flexible, open architectures, reducing vendor lock-in and lowering total cost of ownership.
