Introduction The vibration of an asset is an important indicator of abnormality in its functioning, that when not identified and promptly corrected, may lead to serious damage to the equipment. For instance: operational risks, security risks, even interrupting the production line, causing costly financial implications. When the vibration is measured and analysed properly, it can be used as an important indicator of the machine’s state of health, helping the maintenance professional take corrective actions and prevent future problems. All machines, when in operation, produce a given spectrum of vibration. Each type of equipment has an original spectral signature and every element of the machine is responsible for a portion of the frequency of which this spectrum is consisted.
