Average demand hit $1.57M, average payment jumped 500% to $2M, and recovery (ex-ransom) rose to $2.73M; a record $75M was paid to “Dark Angels.” Attacks cluster 1–5 a.m. (weekends rising) and over half of victims have <200 employees. The US is heavily targeted (48% of all attacks; 60% in education, 71% in healthcare). Paying is no guarantee—34% always pay, 21% sometimes; 72% of payers paid multiple times and 1 in 3 still lost data. Despite this, 97% say they’d pay (67% >$3M, 35% >$5M).
