York House Surgery, Heywood - SME (Healthcare) | Enworks The small surgery, with 18 employees, specialises in carrying out routine surgical procedures and running clinics for long-term illness, substance misuse and recovery. It has been supported by a locally based adviser from Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale to reduce its environmental impact, with funding from the ENWORKS programme. So far, ENWORKS has helped the SME to implement eight low-cost or no-cost improvement projects. Energy efficiency Electricity consumption has been addressed by replacing old fluorescent tubes with new, more energy-efficient models, throughout the surgery. This is saving over £1,100 a year and the costs of the new fittings paid back within about 10 months. The CO 2 e savings are 5.5 tonnes per year.
