BACKGROUND WORLE SCHOOL opened in 1940 at buildings on Spring Hill and moved to its present site in 1971 when education in Weston-Super-Mare, UK was reorganised along comprehensive lines. It was the first comprehensive school to be purpose built by Somerset County Council. Worle was also one of the first schools in the former County of Avon to achieve status as an Investor in People.
