Gateshead Football Club - Case Study The Introduction Formed in 1889, Gateshead FC and their devoted fans have had plenty of ups and downs over the years, no more so than when the club was liquidated in 1973. Since then The Heed have gained a new lease of life, shooting up the lower leagues of northern football to eventually reach the Conference Premier. In the 2013/2014 season, they were looking to go one further and reach the coveted Football League as they took on Cambridge United in the Conference Playoff Final.
