The Problem A detached property in Branscombe Gardens, Winchmore Hill was suffering from subsidence. Site Investigations highlighted the cause of the problem to be the trees growing adjacent to the property taking moisture from the ground below the foundations to the property. The trees were in municipal parkland owned by Enfield Borough Council, who appointed Gristwood and T oms (their network Arboricultural experts) to act on their behalf . The local authority had already committed to installing a water permeable but root impenetrable barrier along a 30 m length of parkland to terminate the root activity below the foundations.
