St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray v1_0 St Mary’s Church in Melton Mowbray is a Grade 1 listed building, with parts that date back to 1170. In 2017, following a legacy from a local benefactor, Jon Plumb, the church closed for 12 months to undertake a major refurbishment project. The project included levelling the floor to create a step-free environment, installing under-floor heating throughout, improved lighting, amplification and audio-visual equipment, a servery and storage space, toilets, a glass “air- lock” in the porch, upgrading the organ and adding a new stained-glass window in memory of John Plumb.
