Contract: Wigan Borough Council Contract Type: LED Street Lighting Contract Value: £9milliom Contract Duration: April 2014 - Present Scope: The Metropolitan Borough of Wigan covers an area of approximately 77 square miles and is situated within the conurbation of Greater Manchester. Wigan Council serves a population of around 310,000. The highway network comprises around 1,000km of adopted roads and there are around 36,500 street lighting units currently in operation across the highway network, of which around 5,500 are currently LED type units. The contract was is to replace an estimated 31,000 of the existing conventional street lighting lanterns by retrofitting LED lighting units on a one for one basis.
