Hydroelectric Infrastructure Case Study When rockslides and erosion threatened a 90+ megawatt hydroelectric facility, Flight Evolved was called to help provide high density LIDAR modeling of the dam, banks, and spillways. On this particular project, Flight Evolved partnered with a company in the Pacific Northwest to gather data of a large hydroelectric facility. The data was to be used to determine rock face stability, plan face stabilization, and limit slide potential. The History The facility experienced two rockslide events on the banks of a medium sized dam. The dam is part of critical infrastructure for the regions utility provider and a specialist geotechnical engineering team was contacted to evaluate stability, safety, and make recommendations for bank reinforcement approaches.
