West Berkshire LED street lights West Berkshire As part of VolkerHighways’ term maintenance contract with West Berkshire Council, we carried out periodic trials with LED street light lanterns. Following the success of these trials we began working with the Council to find an energy efficient solution for their entire network. The result has been a full street lighting upgrade, including 3,800 column replacements, with approx. 2,800 ICP transfers and a further 7,000 ‘lantern only’ replacements. On completion, the Council will have over 11,000 energy efficient LED street lights in place. In addition, a Central Management System has been installed, allowing the Council to directly monitor their lights for maintenance issues, as well as dim or turn them off, as required.
