Five years later, this vision became a reality as Independent Study High School (ISHS) was established by UNL and the first correspondence courses were delivered to a group of 14 students from a small rural town in Crookston, Nebraska. What began more than 80 years ago and has been bolstered with the arrival of the Internet is a school for the 21st century, grounded in tradition.
