CASE STUDY TRAVEL HOIST DOCK HAMBLE YACHT SERVICES, UK In 2017 Walcon Marine completed the replacement of a travel hoist dock at Hamble Yacht Services (HYS) on the south coast of the UK. The company was responsible to every aspect of the project. It began with the demolition and removal of the old dock before moving on to the driving of new piles and the fabrication and installation of new steel runway beams followed by fi lling them with concrete. Additional concrete works were also undertaken on shore. The specifi cations included a total of 23 steel piles being driven, each 16-metres in length and 610mm in diameter. 50 cubic metres of concrete were poured into the runways and ashore, and the decking to take the travel hoist plus up to 80 tonnes of yacht was 50mm GRP.
