The Country Club: Brookline, MA
Background The Country Club in Brookline, MA is a 27 hole facility established in 1882 as America's first country club. It is currently ranked #24 on Golf Digest 2013-2014 America's Greatest Courses list. Since 1988 TCC has been host to the US Open, US Woman's Amateur, Ryder Cup Matches and most recently US Amateur. Algae Problems on The Championship Course Over 29 seasons TCC has tried other biological products with unacceptable results as well as various herbicides and copper based products to treat both weeds and algae. The main problem on the course is with a one surface acre aesthetic pond that receives storm drainage from the abutting neighborhood. Each year both rooted and floating algal mats would appear.
