The Tangara fleet operated by Sydney Trains consists of 446 double-deck, electric multiple unit trains manufactured between 1988 and 1995. The fleet operates predominantly as eight-car consists on the city network. Now deemed to be at half-life, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), in coordination with Sydney Trains, has developed various projects targeted to add 10 years to the life of this fleet.
