Suncor aimed to identify potential equipment failures up to six weeks in advance, extend planning time for downtime, and use new condition insights for maintenance decisions across 20,500 critical assets. Facing challenges in distinguishing KPI changes from normal fluctuations, they deployed AVEVA Predictive Analytics, PI Vision, and Process Optimization. Since 2017, this AVEVA solution delivered $37 million CAD in cost savings, optimized maintenance strategies, improved control over planned downtime, and enhanced the performance of active assets across multiple sites.
